R.O. Stenzel & Company Warehouse
1811 Walnut
Kansas City, Missouri
SCOPE OF WORK: National Register Nomination; Federal & Missouri Historic Tax Credit Applications
CLIENT: GatorBear, LLC
INVESTMENT: $1,090,000
COMPLETED: Summer 2007
This unassuming Modern single-story wholesale warehouse in Kansas City’s hip Crossroads neighborhood was renovated into a state-of-the-art office for a marketing firm. An early design by the prolific Kansas City architecture firm Kivett & Myers, the building’s simple form and materials reflect its Modern Movement styling, a genre in which Kivett & Myers would excel over the course of their partnership.
Rosin Preservation nominated the building to the National Register of Historic Places by linking it to the National Register Multiple Property Documentation Form “Railroad Related Historic Commercial and Industrial Resources in Kansas City, Missouri.” Rosin Preservation also facilitated the historic tax credit process, working with the owners and the design team to preserve significant interior spaces and finishes while incorporating a fresh interior design.
