SCOPE OF WORK: Survey and Determination of National Register Eligibility
CLIENT:The City of Leawood, Kansas
COMPLETED: Spring 2011

District II at the northeast corner of Leawood, Kansas is a cohesive residential neighborhood with distinct and identifiable architectural characteristics. This area evolved from open farmland into a picturesque suburb during the mid-twentieth century.

Using a grant from the Johnson County Heritage Trust Fund, the City of Leawood hired Rosin Preservation to train and coordinate local volunteers, who completed the field survey and entered information into the Kansas State Historical Society’s on-line survey database. Rosin Preservation reviewed and analyzed the data compiled by the volunteers to generate a report of findings and recommendations.

The survey documented Colonial Revival and Minimal Traditional houses from the early 1940s , the ubiquitous Ranch Houses of the late 1940s and 1950s, and more-experimental Modern Movement homes from the latter part of the mid-century period. Rosin Preservation identified 282 of the 329 surveyed resources that would be contributing to a potential National Register Historic District.

Colonial Revival - 1940

Minimal Traditional - 1941

Ranch - 1950

Modern Movement - 1951
