Historic Building Documentation
In some instances it is not possible to save a historic resource. If a resource listed on the National Register (or sometimes even National Register eligible) will be demolished, relocated, or otherwise adversely impacted, it is often documented before the larger project proceeds. A typical documentation report includes a written description and history of the resource; archival-quality black and white photographs; and sketch floor plans of the building. Because it is often the last chance to glean information about a historic resource, the documentation report represents the most-detailed form of recordation in the historic preservation repertoire. Documentation reports prepared for the Historic American Buildings Survey or the Historic American Engineering Record are archived in the Library of Congress.
The staff of Rosin Preservation has documented the history and appearance of nearly two dozen historic resources. These reports have met the very high standards of the Historic American Buildings Survey, as well as comparable state documentation guidelines. To meet the stringent requirements of documentation, Rosin Preservation calls upon the specialized professional skills of photography and architecture sub-consultants to help prepare components of the documentation reports.
